How the department is funded

The Department of Climate Change receives two types of funding: departmental and administered. Departmental resources are used to produce goods and services (outputs) at a quantity, quality and price endorsed by government. The department also administers payments on behalf of government, which controls how we use them and requires us to account for them separately.

The department's outputs and administered items for 2008–09 are detailed in Note 23. A shaded background indicates that information relates to an administered resource, both in that table and in the formal financial statements.
