Coasts and Climate Change Council
A Coasts and Climate Change Council was established in late 2009 to engage with communities and stakeholders and
advise the Government on coastal adaptation issues and reform priorities. The council provided a final report to
Minister Combet in December 2011.

Terms of reference
- Provide advice to the Minister and the Australian Government on the implications of coastal climate change for
decision makers
- Undertake professional stakeholder engagement activities to inform advice on national coastal climate change
adaptation reform priorities
- Raise awareness of coastal climate change adaptation issues
