Australian delegates at the UNFCCC

The Australian Government will be well represented at Copenhagen, with delegates from a number of departments participating. Biographies of the Department of Climate Change's key delegates are below.

Minister for Climate Change and Water, Penny Wong

Senator the Hon Penny Wong was appointed Australian Government Minister for Climate Change and Water on December 3, 2007.

Secretary, Martin Parkinson

Dr Martin Parkinson was appointed as Secretary upon the establishment of the Department of Climate Change on 3 December 2007.

Deputy Secretary and Special Envoy on Climate Change, Howard Bamsey

Mr Howard Bamsey is Deputy Secretary of the Department of Climate Change, overseeing the department’s Adaptation and Land Management Division, International Division and Corporate Services Branch.

Ambassador for Climate Change, Louise Hand

Ms Hand is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, currently seconded to the Department of Climate Change.
