Climate Change Action Fund

In the CPRS White Paper the Government committed to establishing the Climate Change Action Fund (CCAF) to provide targeted assistance to business, community sector organisations, workers, regions and communities, helping to smooth the transition to a low-pollution economy. The CCAF was designed to provide support in the lead up to the implementation of the CPRS and during its operation. With the delay in the introduction of the CPRS, the Climate Change Action Fund has also been delayed.

Upon implementation of the CPRS, the Climate Change Action Fund would assist:

  • Small to medium sized enterprises and community sector organisations which may be affected by the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS)
  • Specific industries, workers, regions and communities that may experience a concentrated impact flowing from the implementation of the CPRS
  • Businesses that are not eligible for other forms of assistance associated with the CPRS, recognising that there may be other situations where assistance is warranted.

Through the provision of information, grants and other support, the CCAF would help businesses and community organisations to prepare for the CPRS by adopting lower emissions technologies and processes.
