Clean energy initiative
The Clean Energy Initiative (CEI) complements the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme and Renewable Energy Target, by supporting the research, development and demonstration of low-emission energy technologies, including industrial scale carbon capture and storage and solar energy.
The CEI is administered by the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism and has three components; the Carbon Capture and Storage Flagships Program; the Solar Flagships Program; and the Australian Centre for Renewable Energy.
The CEI has three components
-
Carbon Capture and Storage Flagships Program
Part of the Clean Energy Initiative. Funding to support construction and demonstration of large-scale integrated carbon capture and storage projects in Australia. Administered by the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism.
-
Solar Flagships Program
Part of the Clean Energy Initiative. Funding to support construction of large-scale solar power stations in Australia. Administered by the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism.
- Australian Centre for Renewable Energy (ACRE)
Part of the Clean Energy Initiative. Funding to establish a new body, the Australian Centre for Renewable Energy (ACRE), that will promote the development, commercialisation and deployment of renewable technologies. Administered by the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism.
