CPRS Legislation
The Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme legislative package comprises 11 Bills which were most recently introduced House of Representatives on 2 February 2010.
Development of the CPRS legislation
In the context of negotiations with the Coalition, the Government proposed a range of changes to the CPRS legislation on 24 November 2009.
These changes now form part of the Government’s policy on climate change action. Changes requiring legislative amendments have been incorporated into the revised CPRS bills introduced into the Parliament on 2 February 2010.
An exposure draft of the CPRS legislation was released for public comment on 10 March 2009. Following public comment, a number of changes were made to the CPRS Bills.
