What NGER data is published

Section 24 of the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007 specifies that the Greenhouse and Energy Data Officer (GEDO) must publish the following totals reported by a registered corporation that exceeds the publishing threshold:

  • scope 1 greenhouse gas emissions
  • scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions, and
  • energy consumption.

A registered corporation will have its reported totals for that financial year published, if its scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions, combined together, are equal to or greater than the publishing thresholds specified in the NGER Act.

The GEDO must publish the totals that were reported on a website before 28 February for the previous financial year's information. Only some corporations that are registered with the GEDO have their data published due to the following reasons:

  • some corporations are registered to report greenhouse and energy information for a later financial year but not for the current financial year
  • a registered corporation may have reported greenhouse and energy information to the GEDO but not have met the publishing threshold
  • a registered corporation may not have reported to the GEDO in time for this publication, and
  • a registered corporation may have applied under section 25 of the NGER Act to have all or part of the greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption totals that it reported withheld from publication.

Any corporation that has applied for data to be withheld under a section 25 application has been identified in the publication with a footnote. The data that has been specified by a corporation in their application has been left blank in this publication pending a decision on the application.

More information on NGER reporting can be found in the Factsheets.
