Renewable Energy Target scheme legislation

Legislation to implement enhancements to the Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme was passed by the Commonwealth Parliament on 24 June 2010 and received Royal Assent on 28 June 2010.

The RET scheme, which from 1 January 2011 operates as the Large-scale Renewable Energy Target and Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme, is implemented through the following legislation:

Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator

The Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator oversees the implementation of the RET scheme.

The Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency handles policy issues on the legislation.
