Carrathool Shire Council
Carrathool Shire Council recognise the threat of global warming and the importance of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Council became an active participant in the international Cities for Climate Protection (CCP) Australia program in February 2001. The program has encouraged Council to take a proactive approach to the Greenhouse issue through its completion of five strategic Milestones.
Carrathool Shire Council recognises that to ensure the ongoing success of its greenhouse initiatives it must continue to integrate CCP and energy-related actions into its core business management systems. Council is currently working to expand its ISO 14001 certified Environmental Management System to become an integrated sustainability management System of which CCP related processes will form a part. Council is well on the way to successfully integrating energy-related actions into its core management plan and thus has progressed swiftly through the program to complete all five milestones in 2004.
