Cities for Climate Protection

Holroyd City Council

Holroyd City Council has been committed to the Cities for Climate Protection (CCP) Australia program since joining in July 2003. Over this period Council has completed a Greenhouse Reduction Local Action Plan which was adopted by Council in July 2005. In addition, Holroyd Council has developed an Energy Savings Action Plan. These two documents are complimentary and have provided Council with over 60 initiatives and actions that will reduce Holroyd's energy consumption and by extension, greenhouse gas emissions. Council recognises its role as a community leader and as such it has developed a schedule of works to reduce its total CO2 emissions by over 350 tonnes/annum by 1 July 2009. Council is also looking for further initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and progressing to Milestone 5 in the CCP program.
