Actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Community
- Council is working with schools in the community to reduce greenhouse gases through an innovative carbon credit scheme.
- Credits are generated by walking or riding to school. Credits are transferable at the Council for a tree planted in or near the school.
Travel
- Council is currently reviewing its current fleet policy.
Future greenhouse abatement actions
- Council is committed to reducing its energy footprint.
- Investigations are underway for a community energy audit program to be conducted aimed at educating residents on energy and climate change.
