Kiama Municipal Council
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions can have a positive impact on all of our lives, such as being more energy efficient, saving money and promoting healthier lifestyles. Kiama Municipal Council looks forward to implementing this exciting project with the community over the coming years.
A word from the Mayor
Actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Community
- Council is conducting Sustainable Living Workshops including topics about energy efficiency in the home.
Travel
- Promoting walking/physical activity through the "Walk-It Kiama" project and through the Cycleways Plan.
Corporate
- Implementing recommedations from an Energy Audit, including installing office light sensors and replacing overhead lights.
- Ongoing tree planting in Council reserves and conducting quarterly tree giveaways.
Future greenhouse abatement actions
- Council's Action Plan is currently being developed.
- Greenhouse Gas Abatement will be a major part of Council's Sustainable Kiama Communities Project that will be implemented over the next three years.
