Actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Community
- Currently evaluating water re use
- Installed waterless urinals in public toilets
- Installed solar hot water systems in caravan park.
Travel
- Installed E10 fuel at Council depot for use in Council vehicles.
Corporate
- Coated roof of Information centre with heat reducing/reflecting compound to avoid expensive air conditioning installation
- Carried out power usage audit and currently instigating recommendations on use of electricity
- Mulch all organic waste and re use around public gardens and sell to the community.
Future greenhouse abatement actions
- Continue review of use of airconditioning
- Continue to look for opportunities in water reuse and final wastewater treatment
- Replacement over 12 months of Computer monitors to flat screen monitors to provide a 50 per cent reduction in power usage.
