Description:Climate change presents a fundamental challenge to Australia’s friends and neighbours in the Pacific. Australia is committed to arguing the case of Pacific island countries in major global forums on climate change. Conscience Call: Climate change in the Pacific gives a voice to the vulnerable people of the Pacific. It reflects the determination of all Pacific leaders to tackle the problem of climate change, also evident in the Pacific Leaders’ Call to Action, agreed at the Pacific Islands Forum in Cairns on 6 August 2009. The main message of this statement is the urgency of ambitious, effective global action on climate change. Conscience Call was most recently presented by the Prime Minister at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, 27-29 November 2009.
