Abbott manufactures more carbon price myths

Unashamed by having had his trips to Sanitarium, the Sydney Fish Market, Kimberly-Clark and Corinthian Doors exposed as baseless attempts to frighten the public about a carbon price, Tony Abbott today visited a small manufacturing business, Weldcraft, in Queanbeyan.
The Opposition Leader’s mindless, mobile scare campaign only gets more and more detached from reality as each day passes.
The truth is less than 1000 big polluters will pay the carbon price and Weldcraft is not one of them.
Under the Government’s policy, any price impacts on consumers will be offset by generous assistance to householders.
This contrasts strongly with Mr Abbott’s so called Direct Action policy, which will dip into taxpayers’ funds to pay big polluters to lower their emissions.
Under his policy the costs of lowering carbon pollution are placed squarely on working families and ordinary householders while fiscal discipline is sacrificed for political opportunism.
It is no wonder Mr Abbott’s own frontbench says the greatest virtue of his policy is that it is no real policy at all.
The Opposition Leader should stop the cheap politicking on this important issue, roll up his sleeves and do the hard work of developing rational policies.
