OSCAR - Online System for Comprehensive Activity Reporting
OSCAR is a web-based data collection tool for recording of energy, waste and greenhouse data for Government programme reporting.
Greenhouse performance can be tracked over time using specific business measures and OSCAR can be used to report greenhouse gas abatement activities such as changes to corporate culture through staff-awareness activities, fugitive emissions-capture, renewable energy use and greenhouse sinks.
Using OSCAR will help provide a clear picture of, and therefore improve, your organisation's greenhouse footprint, whilst at the same time identify measurable savings.
OSCAR standardises the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions to produce comparable datasets regarding environmental performance for whole industry and government sectors. OSCAR stores all the necessary conversion factors to automatically convert energy, fuel, waste and materials consumption data into greenhouse gas emissions in quantities of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-e).
Development of OSCAR
OSCAR is an extension of the energy data gathering and reporting tool 'EDGAR' which has in the past successfully helped reduce the time needed to meet reporting requirements for government operations through the Whole of Government Energy Report 'WOGER.' To reduce the duplicative effort of reporting to multiple programmes, EDGAR has now been integrated into OSCAR version 6.0, streamlining the reporting process for those that are members of multiple programmes. This means that those affected will only need to report data common to these programmes once.
