Consultation on draft regulations on eligibility of native forest biomass under the RET

The Government has released, for public consultation, an exposure draft of the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Amendment Regulations 2011. The regulations released contain amendments to implement changes to the Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme rules, to exclude biomass from native forests as an eligible renewable energy resource, announced in the Government's clean energy future plan released on 10 July 2011.

The amendments to the RET scheme are part of suite of new policies and initiatives announced under the clean energy future plan. Details about the plan are available at Clean Energy Future.

Further information and details can be found at Draft regulations to exclude native forest biomass as an eligible renewable energy source under the Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme.
