National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (Measurement) Determination
The National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (Measurement) 2008 (the Determination) provides methods and criteria for calculating greenhouse gas emissions and energy data under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007.
The range of emission sources covered in the Determination include:
- the combustion of fuels for energy;
- fugitive emissions from the extraction of coal;
- oil and gas;
- industrial processes (such as producing cement and steel); and
- waste management.
The Determination does not address land-based emission sources.
The methods are based on those used for the National Greenhouse Accounts.
Technical guidelines
Technical guidelines have been developed to assist stakeholders understand and apply the NGER (Measurement) Determination 2008.
