National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Regulations 2008
The National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Regulations 2008 (the Regulations) and explanatory statement are now available.
The National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007 (the Act) was established in September 2007. Since then, the Department of Climate Change has consulted extensively with Australian business, State and Territory governments, and non-government organisations on the Regulations.
The Act established the framework for mandatory greenhouse gas emissions and energy reporting, but some details are established by the Regulations. The Regulations deal with the following:
- Key terms
- Making and revoking nominations for joint ventures and partnerships
- Facilities definitions
- Registration and de-registration
- Reporting requirements
- information disclosed to Government
- Requirements for applications to declare a facility or operational control/
The Department of Climate Change would like to thank corporations, non-government organisations and individuals who have provided feedback in response to consultation papers and draft copies of the Regulations and the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (Measurement) Determination 2008.
Reporting guidelines will also be available in early July to help stakeholders understand and apply the Act and Regulations.
