Information for industry
The phase-out of greenhouse-intensive hot water systems is likely to increase the uptake of more efficient/low emission technologies such as solar and heat pump water heaters. To assist with this transition, training is being provided to plumbers and other installers of solar and heat pump hot water systems on technologies and their installation in residential properties throughout Australia. The training will also provide details of current regulatory changes.
The Solar and Heat Pump Transitional Plumber Training program is a joint initiative of the Australian and state and territory governments. Correct installation of solar and heat pump water systems will ensure they comply with state and territory plumbing regulations and achieve their best possible performance.
The information will be useful to plumbers and other installers of solar and heat pump water heating technologies, and will help installers to update their installation skills and techniques.
The phase-out of greenhouse-intensive hot water systems will transform the Australian water heating market and help Australia move to a low emission future.
