History and statistics
The PVRP was established in 2000, and became the SHCP in 2007. Since From November 2007, the rebate provided under the program has doubled to $8,000.
In May 2008, a means test was placed on the solar power rebate to ensure support was provided to the housholds that most needed it.
The number of applications under the SHCP grew from 420 per week in May 2008 to approximately 6,043 per week just prior to the program closure in June 2009.
The program closed for new applications on 9 June 2009 and the vast majority of systems were installed by 6 July 2010.
Solar Credits replaced the SHCP on 9 June 2009. Information on Solar Credits is available at the Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator.
